The Smart Growth Committee approved the Historic Architectural Review Board's recommendation on a roof replacement at 6 West Market Street.
HARB recommended approval of application 2026‑5 with clarifications: the front (north) roof must use a standing‑seam metal roof formed with flat panels (minimum 24‑gauge), interlocking standing seams (maximum 1.5‑inch seam height), and red coloring closely matching adjacent buildings; the rear (south) roof may use GAF Timberline asphalt shingles as an alternative, and visible flashing is limited to two inches high and must not be white aluminum.
"The recommendation from HARB was that the board recommends approval of the certificate appropriateness for application 2026Dash5 as submitted with the following clarifications," staff said. The committee voted to approve the HARB recommendation during the meeting.
The applicant (a roofing contractor) presented at the HARB meeting and HARB emphasized repairing existing built‑in metal gutters and avoiding white aluminum flashing. No roll‑call vote or individual vote tallies were recorded in the meeting transcript; the chair announced approval by voice vote.
