District leaders presented staffing requests from principals and program leads: several elementary sites requested that GT positions be assigned to remain on a single campus rather than floating between schools, and the current ask would increase full-time GT teachers from three to five to expand services and provide continuity for students.
Staff also described a proposed halftime position at the high school that would split duties between attendance tracking and PowerSchool data entry; the intent is to reduce workload on existing staff and improve attendance reporting accuracy. Director said the attendance clerk currently manages many tasks and the halftime role would combine attendance duties with data-specialist responsibilities.
On safety, schools requested additional monitoring both inside and outside buildings and asked whether another SRO could be placed at a large campus; staff said the city/state-funded SRO program application would request a second SRO but funding is not guaranteed. Board members asked whether an executive session was needed to discuss staffing and noted they wanted more data about where positions would come from and the operational trade-offs of adding FTEs.
The board asked staff to return with specific cost and operational impact details in the next work session.
