Board hears rise in July call volumes and selection of two telecommunicators

"During the month of July 2025, members of the Broadview Police Department responded to 1,456 calls compared to 1,395 calls in the month of June, a 4.3% increase," the secretary reported. The I-911 communications center logged 3,448 calls for Broadview and Maywood in July, up from 3,419 the prior month.
The secretary said the Village of Broadview has selected two telecommunicator candidates; backgrounds, fingerprinting and physicals are complete and training is expected to begin within two weeks. The candidates were described in the meeting as a male Hispanic and a female white applicant with some dispatch and CAD experience.
The secretary thanked interim director Charlotte Powell of Maywood and other personnel for their work managing staffing and onboarding; the board expressed appreciation for telecommunicators covering extra shifts during the hiring process. No public comments were registered at the meeting.
The board did not take additional action on staffing during the meeting; follow-up items (start dates and formal onboard completion) were not specified in the record.
