Staff: Lyons Township High School may pursue sale; Willow Springs provided updates on ARPA pump closeout

Village staff told trustees at the June meeting that Lyons Township High School is again considering moving forward with a potential sale of school-owned property. The board was told the school board has reached out to the Pleasant Bay Area Park District and Pleasant Bay Elementary to gauge interest, and staff said the school board indicated it may consider the Village of Willow Springs in zoning or negotiations.
A staff member said the school has given interested parties a timeframe to respond and that the village expects to seek a seat at any negotiation table if the process advances. No purchase or sale agreement was proposed in open session; the board scheduled an executive-session discussion later in the meeting to discuss real estate matters generally.
Separately, the speaker handed out the ARPA closeout report filed with the U.S. Treasury and an in-house summary of two projects that used ARPA funds. "The total expensed was $764,931.82, and that accounts for every single penny funds," the speaker said, reporting that the ARPA pump projects are closed out and all funds allocated.
What’s next: Staff said it will update the board as the Lyons Township process evolves and will follow up on any county or school responses. The village will not take action on sale or purchase during the public meeting; any negotiations would be discussed in executive session or in future public action if required.
