The Belvidere City Committee of the Whole approved the appointment of Carl Swanson to the Historic Preservation Commission at its Jan. 12 meeting.
The mayor presented a memo dated Dec. 15 recommending Swanson to fill a vacancy created by the resignation of Alexandra Omiatek. The commission consists of seven members who serve three-year terms; the appointment fills the term expiring April 30, 2028.
Alderman Flurry moved to approve the appointment and Alderman Peterson seconded. During discussion Alderman Frank said, "his resume was very impressive," and other members agreed. The council approved the motion by voice vote.
The appointment was made by consent; no further action was recorded at the meeting.
