City planning staff told the Development Committee that several sizable development projects are lining up for the coming quarters, including a rezoning petition and a large data center investment.
Staff described a rezoning case that would reclassify property from ORI (office, research and light industrial) to M (manufacturing) tied to a CRG acquisition; that rezoning is intended to facilitate future warehouse or manufacturing development. Staff also said Pritzker Realty Group is moving forward with a plat of subdivision across the street that would allow construction of two buildings on Portman Parkway.
In addition, staff reported the city had issued a building permit for a data center at 1345 Washington Street. Staff stated the project represents an investment of about $97,000,000. "We did receive a building permit for a data center at 1345 Washington Street, which is a pretty significant investment. It's about, $97,000,000 that they're investing into that data center," the staff member told the committee.
Committee members asked about traffic and right-of-way impacts on Fabian Parkway. Staff noted that Fabian Parkway is a county roadway and that DuPage County is working on the design to widen the parkway; staff said the county's stated goal was to begin work in the stated year but that the schedule was not definitive and could stretch one to two years depending on design and bidding.
Staff also invited the public to a downtown modernization open house on Saturday, Jan. 24, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Ridley Hall.
