A La Grange resident raised questions about municipal financial oversight during the public-comment portion of the meeting, asking for updates on recruitment and whether payroll vouchers were missing from the consolidated voucher list.
Al Foreman (56 7th Avenue) asked whether the village could provide a status update on searches for a finance director and an accounting manager and said he had reviewed consolidated vouchers and thought payroll cycles for early June and mid-August were missing. He offered to provide copies of his findings.
Village Manager Knight responded that the village is currently interviewing for the finance manager position and that consultants from MGT Solutions were brought in to manage the finance department during the transition. On timing, Knight explained that items presented for payment are approved by the board and then processing begins afterward.
"Generally, what we have before the board are items that are coming up for payment. So, they'll be approved tonight if the board votes to approve them, and then we're processing starting tomorrow," Manager Knight said.
The board thanked Foreman for raising the issue and said staff would look into the voucher timing and provide explanations or corrections as needed.
