La Grange approves $500,000-funded task order to televise South Basin sewers

Trustees voted unanimously Nov. 10 to approve task order No. 293 with engineering firm Baxter & Woodman for design, bidding and limited construction services to clean and televise sewer lines in La Grange’s South Basin.
Trustee Gail told the board the village received $500,000 in community project funding secured through Rep. Sean Casten that will pay to televise about 43,000 feet of storm, sanitary and combined sewer pipes. "Under the proposed work, Baxter and Woodman will provide design and bid documents, limited construction services, conduct video review, ensure that updates are reflected in GIS data, as well as provide a summary and recommendations," Gail said.
During questions, Trustee Ochsner asked whether the grant covers the entire South Basin. Director O'Brien said the funding will not cover every foot but will address a "fairly large portion" — "roughly say about 40 to 50% of it," he said. O'Brien also confirmed that engineering costs included in the village budget are reimbursable under the grant.
Staff recommended approval; the board moved the resolution, seconded, and approved it by roll call. Work under the task order is expected to be completed by April 2026 and will be paid from capital project funds and reimbursed under grant terms.
The board did not set a specific timetable for public-facing results such as a map of televised segments; Director O'Brien said he did not have the exact percentage of total South Basin coverage available at the meeting and offered to provide follow-up details to trustees.
