The Willow Springs Board of Trustees on Nov. 14 approved two insurance renewals for calendar year 2025 and completed routine business including approval of prior minutes and warrants.
A representative from insurance brokerage Connor and Gallagher told the board the village's premiums are increasing, citing an "about 17% increase over last year" driven in part by experience-modification factors and recent losses. "Cables that we're using for this year are 17% increase over last year," the presenter said during the meeting, explaining that the experience modification rate compares the village's loss history to peer municipalities.
President Nettemeyer noted that some network and plan changes reflect broader carrier adjustments rather than local policy choices and that staff had begun notifying plan participants. After the presentation, trustees moved and unanimously approved the Connor and Gallagher health insurance renewal (motion by Trustee Posh, second by Trustee Mica) and the property insurance renewal (motion by Trustee Ara, second by Trustee Moon) by roll call.
The board also approved prior meeting minutes for October and a set of warrants (item 91) covering payroll and recent project costs; trustees asked clarifying questions about the warrant period and project-related charges before approving the item by roll call.
No additional conditions were attached to the insurance approvals at the meeting. Trustees thanked the presenters for their information and said staff would continue work on implementation and participant notifications.
