Willow Springs posts proposed 2026 budget with no tax levy increase; sidewalks near Willow Springs Elementary included

Village Administrator Bryce presented the proposed 2026 budget to the Willow Springs Village Board Nov. 13 and confirmed the display appropriation is available for public review at Village Hall and was advertised in the newspaper.

“There is no tax levy increase on the residents once again this year,” Bryce told trustees, describing the proposed budget as balanced. Bryce said the village plans to continue funding capital reserves for the police department and public works and will contribute toward a fitness center project through grants and a local share.

The display budget includes planned capital purchases and improvements: replacement utility vehicles for public works and police, funding for two fleet vehicles for the police department, park bench replacements, and funding for road paving and new sidewalks. Bryce specifically cited sidewalk and paving projects near Willow Springs Elementary School and a West End/German Church Road connection to improve safe access for students.

Bryce said financial worksheets in the packet show 2023 final spend numbers, 2024 unaudited close numbers and proposed 2025 and 2026 budgets, and invited trustees and residents to review the documents and bring questions. He noted the village aims to be fully funded on police pension obligations ahead of the state mandate and is continuing contributions above minimums.

The board will consider the budget in a public hearing and board meeting in December; staff asked residents to review the posted documents and contact administration with questions.
