Students honored for music and winter-sports achievements at Fulton board meeting

The Fulton City School District’s March 24 meeting opened with student performances and a presentation highlighting music and winter-sports achievements.
Teacher Carrie Hodge invited the board and community to a student recognition ceremony: "My name is Carrie Hodge and I'm a teacher in the Fulton School School District. I'm here tonight to formally invite the community as well as the board members to an exciting event taking place on Thursday, April 9 at 6PM in the main gym at Ray Bodley High School," she said, noting that 87 students K–12 will be honored.
An athletics slideshow presented by the staff member introduced winter-sports scholar-athlete teams and season highlights: girls basketball recorded a program-best 15–5 season and a first-ever player-of-the-year honor; boys basketball earned league honors and sectional semifinal appearances; swimmers and track athletes set records and qualified for state competition; wrestling qualified multiple athletes for state tournaments and highlighted individual placements.
Student Tara Murphy described the girls bowling team’s run to third place in the state and recounted individual performances that helped the team advance. Board members and administrators thanked students and coaches and praised community support, including a recent donation that will support the district’s city-and-school synergy program.
The district encouraged the public to attend student events including the April 9 recognition ceremony and other upcoming concerts and activities.
