Lindenhurst board confirms appointment, approves water-tower design and well study, backs America250 observance

The Lindenhurst Village Board on Aug. 25 completed a series of administrative and capital-policy actions, including appointing a chair to the Veterans' Memorial Commission, authorizing engineering work for water-tank repainting, approving a study of standby-well options and adopting a community-commemoration resolution.
Appointment: The board accepted the Veterans' Memorial Commission’s recommendation to appoint Toby Gruchot as chair of the commission; the term will expire April 30, 2026. Trustee Pat Dunham moved the appointment and Trustee Patty Chybowski seconded; roll call was unanimous in favor.
Infrastructure contracts and studies: Public Works recommended and the board authorized a work order with Strand Associates not to exceed $70,000 for design work on Water Tower #2, originally built in 1998, including interior/exterior inspection, paint analysis, engineering drawings and construction engineering support. The board also authorized a Strand Associates standby well study, not to exceed $28,500, to analyze potential replacement well sites, pumping capacity, water quality and an opinion of probable construction cost.
Commemoration and routine business: The board adopted Resolution 25-8-2325R to participate in the Illinois America250 commemoration (no cost) and confirmed the second set of August bills for payment totaling $261,769.56. Trustee Patty Chybowski moved to adjourn; Trustee Dawn Suchy seconded and the meeting ended at 7:55 p.m.
Public comment during the meeting sought follow-up on the grocery-tax item and raised a street-light outage on Federal Parkway; the minutes note the concerns but record no formal action in response during the meeting.
