The Village of Lindenhurst Board on Nov. 10 approved the 2026 liability insurance renewal and changed the village’s property carrier to Travelers. Trustees voted 5–0 to accept the recommended renewal after staff presented options showing Travelers offered a smaller non-workers-compensation premium increase and lower deductibles.
Staff materials presented two non-workers-compensation options: staying with the current carrier, HCC, with a 2.6% increase, or switching to Travelers with a 1.2% increase and reduced deductibles for property loss, bodily injury, law enforcement liability and automotive coverages. Meeting minutes note that workers' compensation accounted for the majority of the overall premium increase.
Trustee Dawn Suchy made the motion to approve the renewal and change property carriers; Trustee Ron Grace seconded. The motion passed by roll call vote with five ayes and no nays.
