Lindenhurst board approves $48,500 study of municipal complex with Lake Villa Fire District cost-share

The Village of Lindenhurst Board on Jan. 12 authorized a space-needs and facility-condition analysis of its municipal complex, approving an agreement with FGM Architects not to exceed $48,500. Village officials said the study will assess Village Hall and the police station and will be completed in coordination with the Lake Villa Fire Protection District, which agreed to cover 30% of the cost.
The study’s scope, as described to the Board, includes an assessment of existing physical conditions, determination of whether current spaces meet staff and regulatory needs, and exploration of options such as remodel, addition, reconstruction, relocation or maintaining the status quo. Village Administrator Clay Johnson and staff participated in interviews with shortlisted firms; FGM Architects was recommended after a competitive request-for-proposal process and interviews with administration, police department staff, and the Lake Villa Fire Protection District.
Trustee Pat Dunham moved to authorize the Village Administrator to execute the proposal; Trustee Dawn Suchy seconded. The motion passed on a roll-call vote of six in favor, none opposed. Trustees voting aye were Pat Dickson, Pat Dunham, Patty Chybowski, Dawn Suchy, Heath Rosten and Ron Grace.
The Board directed staff to work with the Fire Protection District as part of the study and to return with refined scope and schedule once the consultant’s plan is finalized. No public comment was recorded specifically on the study during the agenda portion where it was considered.
The study is intended to give Village leaders and the Fire Protection District data to guide a decision about next steps for municipal facilities; staff will report back with consultant findings and any recommended actions.
