Commission adopts project naming guidelines and honors departing commissioner

The Transportation Commission asked staff to adopt a set of planning names for segments of Solano and Marin avenues to improve clarity in project titles and the Active Transportation Plan, including recommendations such as 'Solano on Albany Hill', 'Downtown Solano', 'Uptown Solano', 'Lower Marin' and 'Mid Marin.' The motion to have staff incorporate those names into planning documents passed unanimously.
The commission also adopted a resolution of appreciation for Fareed Javindale, who stepped down in January 2026 to accept a position at the Alameda County Transportation Commission. The resolution recognized Javindale’s decades of service to Albany (as commissioner, council member and mayor) and his role in advancing local active-transportation projects.
Staff provided operational announcements about Marin Avenue paving schedules and upcoming Parks, Recreation and Open Space committee discussions on the Pierce–Cleveland Park connection and Thousand Oaks path work. The meeting adjourned with the commission noting a planned ATP discussion at City Council in April.
