Wauconda amends zoning code to ease rules for restaurants with entertainment

The Village of Wauconda board approved an amendment to Chapter 155 of the zoning code to better define entertainment uses and to remove the conditional-use requirement for restaurants that provide entertainment.
A planning commission representative, Tom, said staff and the planning commission recommended removing the conditional-use requirement for restaurants offering entertainment while keeping existing regulations on noise, capacity, operating hours, liquor licensing and prohibitions on adult uses. The code changes also add or amend definitions for "entertainment," "restaurant," "tavern," "nightclub" and "sports bar," and keep taverns, nightclubs and sports bars in separate categories from restaurants.
The mayor asked for questions; none were raised. A motion and second were made to approve the zoning changes and the board approved the item on roll call.
Board members said the amendment simply conforms the code to current business practices and that other regulations would continue to manage noise and liquor concerns.
