Administrator Nabel told the council the CJA has been passed and that staff will present a property-tax abatement resolution at the Feb. 17 meeting intended to affect property tax bills this year. Nabel described the resolution as the product of several years of work and said the city will continue exploring alternate revenue sources.
Nabel also said staff had engaged with state lawmakers about the changes and thanked Mayor McKinney and others for participation on a recent call with the state representatives. The administrator said the abatement resolution will be introduced at the next meeting and discussed collaboratively with other taxing bodies.
Next steps: staff will introduce the abatement resolution at the Feb. 17 meeting and continue work on related revenue and implementation matters.
