Broadview board establishes consent agenda, approves ordinances including municipal grocery tax and donation of surplus fire engine

After a brief procedural clarification from the village attorney, the Broadview Village Board voted 6–0 to establish a consent agenda and approved items labeled g through r, covering proclamations, resolutions, contracts and several ordinances.
Items read into the record included a proclamation recognizing July 2025 as Bridal Month; a resolution to share repair costs on 21st Avenue with Real Group LLC; a resolution authorizing a yearly Lexipol subscription for the police department; a contract and rider with TrainUSA Inc. for retrofit work on the police gun range air handling unit; and an ordinance donating a surplus fire engine from the fire department to the Anlo Kingdom in Ghana. The consent agenda also included a purchase-and-sale agreement for property at 1426 Roosevelt Road, an ordinance implementing a municipal grocery retailer’s occupation tax, amendments to village code sections on trees and shrubs, peddler/solicitor regulation, public demonstration permits and updates to unlawful activities codes.
Village Attorney advised following proper procedure in establishing the consent agenda before reading items into the record. The board followed that guidance, voted to establish the consent agenda, and then voted to approve it. Trustees asked a few clarifying questions about a business license request and the scope of ‘and More’ services; the business owner explained that services include tax preparation, insurance and educational coaching.
The motions to establish and approve the consent agenda carried 6–0. The clerk noted that a copy of the proclamations would be provided to trustees who lacked them in the packet.
