The Georgetown City Council Water & Sewer Committee voted Jan. 12 to recommend raising the city’s water service minimum to $65 for up to 2,000 gallons, forwarding the proposal to the full council for final action.
Mayor Darin Readnour outlined a package of water and sewer items at the meeting and told the committee staff had proposed a change to the customer minimum. After discussion the committee approved the recommendation on a motion by Alder Curt Gordon, seconded by Alder Nick Krabel. The minutes record the action as “Approved” but do not list individual yes/no votes or an effective date.
The change would alter the smallest billed amount rather than the volumetric rate; the committee’s approved text specifies the $65 minimum covers usage up to 2,000 gallons. Committee members did not identify funding offsets or an implementation timetable during the meeting. Alder Nick Krabel declared a quorum earlier in the session.
The recommendation now goes to the full Georgetown City Council for consideration and any final vote. The committee adjourned at 4:34 p.m.
