Georgetown council approves multiple community events, denies American Legion parking restriction

The council approved an American Legion car show scheduled for April 16 and the organization’s Summer Square affair on Aug. 8 (motions moved by Alder Curt Gordon and seconded by Alder Dennis Davidson). A separate request from the American Legion to impose new parking restrictions on E. West St. was denied; minutes note that E. West St. was changed to no parking in 2025 for safety reasons and the council rejected the new restriction request.
Council also approved a Georgetown Youth Football Easter Egg Hunt on April 14 and set the fireworks date for June 27. Each event approval was recorded as a separate motion with the council voting to authorize the permits.
