The Georgetown City Council on Feb. 17 approved personnel committee recommendations to advertise for two full-time Streets & Alleys positions and one part-time seasonal position, and set a $20.00-per-hour starting wage for the advertised positions.
The personnel committee reported it will advertise the positions and work on updates to the personnel policy, specifically addressing attendance and uniform rules. A motion to advertise the positions and adopt the committee’s recommendation was moved by Alder Michelle Brooks and seconded by Alder Robert Weaver; the council approved the action. During discussion the council also approved a $20/hour starting pay rate for those positions and directed personnel to include that figure in job postings.
The personnel committee’s work on policy updates and the authorization to post jobs are next steps; the council did not specify hiring timelines in the minutes.
