The Hampshire Village Board approved two public-works spending items: purchase of a used 2019 Ram 5500 bucket truck for $99,900 and progress payment No. 8 to the public-works facility contractor for work already completed (payment exceeds $1,000,000).
Public-works staff explained the replacement need for an older 1989 international bucket truck and confirmed the used vehicle had been inspected and operated in vendor-supplied videos. Trustees asked whether the old truck would be sold or auctioned and whether the new truck met certification and operational needs; staff confirmed certification and recommended disposition by sale or auction.
On the progress payment, trustees reviewed schedule impacts, contingency usage, and outstanding work remaining on the public-works facility and the larger project balance. Staff said deliveries and final items remain, and that the construction team expected to finish and bill through May if schedule holds. After questions, the board approved both the bucket-truck purchase and the progress payment by roll-call votes (each motion passed 6-0).
Staff will manage final payment processing and the disposition of the replaced truck and return to the board with any significant change orders or schedule updates.
