The Burr Ridge Board of Trustees heard a presentation Jan. 12 on the village’s draft FY2027–2031 capital improvement program and on proposed changes to fund accounting for utilities.
Public works director David Preisig said the village invested more than $7 million in infrastructure in FY2026, citing roughly $1.5 million for roadway and pathway work, $1.1 million in stormwater projects (including the Elm Street culvert) and about $4.4 million in water and sewer improvements such as water-main work and pump-station upgrades. He also noted $80,000 in fleet purchases, including a backhoe.
For FY2027, Preisig summarized planned road resurfacing, crack sealing, pathway engineering and culvert replacement studies. He described an upcoming phase of pump-center improvements (variable frequency drive replacement and related process piping) and a North Water Tower rehabilitation to update coatings and add mixing and cellular-rail upgrades. Staff proposed combining the water and sewer funds into a single utilities fund beginning in FY2027 to allow smaller fee increases and simplify reporting.
Trustees praised staff for pursuing a leasing/enterprise approach that improved fleet reliability and thanked public works staff for delivering recent projects. The board provided consensus for staff to incorporate the CIP into the budget process; no final vote on the CIP was required at the meeting.
Next steps: staff will incorporate trustee feedback and publish the draft budget in February for further review.
