Red Bud mayor proclaims Girl Scout Week as council approves routine business and event closures

A motion also passed authorizing the city to pay for any aldermen who wish to attend the Chamber of Commerce dinner on Friday, April 4, at Port Vineyard; the event fee was reported as $65 per ticket and table seating for eight is available.
During committee reports, the finance committee noted that several certificates of deposit will mature in the coming month and that an item is due in May. The cultural committee brought forward a request from TwoLanes to close the east half of the municipal parking lot — and, for safety, to close the adjacent one-way road — for a public event on Saturday, April 5, that will include a band and alcohol served inside and carried outside. The council approved a motion to close the full parking lot and the adjacent street for that date.
Other calendar items noted at the meeting included a parks meeting on April 5 at 6 p.m., a library board meeting on the 13th, planning commission on the 18th, and an economic development commission meeting on the 26th at 6 p.m. The mayor reminded residents that sirens would be tested the next day and that it was Illinois Tornado Preparedness Day. A staff member reminded city public-safety officials of a gas safety meeting at the firehouse on Thursday, with an optional chicken dinner at 6:30 p.m. before the 7 p.m. program.
The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn; the motion carried and the council adjourned at approximately 6:08 p.m.
