Council approves five-year Axon camera contract, waives church permit fees and OKs routine items

The council approved a five-year service contract renewal with Axon Enterprises for the police department's body and car camera system after a staff presentation that said the new contract continues existing services with an approximate $9,000 annual increase.

"Basically, continue the same same services that we've had with Axon ... it's around a $9,000 increase as it was previously per year," an agency official explained during the meeting as council members reviewed the finance committee recommendation.

The contract renewal was presented as a standard five-year replacement for the existing agreement and received approval on a roll-call vote after committee review. The finance committee had given unanimous approval earlier, according to the meeting discussion.

Council also approved two fee waivers for Saint Peter and Paul Catholic Church: $108 for a sign permit and roughly $1,650 for building permit and inspection fees related to an interior remodel. A motion and second were entered and the council voted to approve both waivers.

Other routine actions included approval of exterior roofing materials (a planning committee item that received unanimous committee support) and presentation of a $2,000 nonprofit grant check to the Whiteside Station chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR).

Meeting minutes show the items were handled as part of the council's routine consent/consideration agenda; where the transcript did not attach a named mover for some motions, council members voiced support and the roll-call votes were recorded as affirmative.
