Engineer, ordinance committee report: nuisance properties, Coffee Pot revision and 5 Commerce Drive auction

During the Jan. 5 meeting the board heard a Legal/Ordinance Committee report from Trustee Dana Miller and an update from Village Engineer Tim Pruett on zoning and development matters.
Pruett said he issued two occupancy permits and one building permit and met with a property owner about a nuisance property on North Richland Street. The committee discussed development coordination for The Coffee Pot; Pruett said revised plans are under review and the property’s lot creation remains pending. The committee also noted 5 Commerce Drive is up for auction with a final date of Jan. 15, 2026.
Trustee Miller said the committee reviewed FOIA requests. Trustee Elizabeth (Lisa) Meehling suggested the village consider revising ATV and golf cart fees and hours, noting local fees appear higher than comparable communities; the minutes do not record a decision on that suggestion.
Why it matters: Zoning, nuisance enforcement and commercial property changes shape local development, tax base and neighborhood conditions. An upcoming auction date for 5 Commerce Drive could change ownership and future use.
