Mayor announces $1 million earmark for lead-service-line replacement; council concurs on tree-board appointments and authorizes executive session

The presiding officer announced the city had been notified by Senator Richard Durbin's office that a requested federal earmark to assist with lead service-line replacement "had survived the appropriation process and was sitting on the desk of the president" for a $1,000,000 allotment. The mayor said staff would await final approval and plan to apply the money to lead-service-line replacement work.
The mayor asked for concurrence on two tree-board appointments: Tim Howe (effective immediately) and Ross Braun (effective March 1, 2026). The council moved, seconded and concurred by voice vote.
Later the mayor asked the council to go into a brief executive session to consider purchase or lease of real property under Section 2(c)(5) of the Illinois Open Meetings Act; the council approved the motion by roll call (all ayes). The presiding officer told media there would be no reportable action exiting the executive session.
