Ray County moves forward on selected bids; some procurements tabled for review

Ray County commissioners advanced several procurement actions while tabling others for further review.
Commissioner Max Hockemeier moved to accept Stockton Builders & Remodeling LLC's plumbing bid for work at the county jail; Commissioner Bobby Don Davis seconded and the motion carried 3‑0. The commission also un‑tabled previously considered auto motor bids and instructed award order with Richmond Muffler & Auto Repair first and Max Motors second; Commissioner Davis recused himself from that vote and the motion carried 2‑0.
At the March 5 meeting the commission opened bids for courthouse entry doors and jail HVAC systems but tabled both items for additional research. Jeff Chronister of Ollis/Akers/Arney presented a Property & Liability renewal through MoPerm Insurance, which commissioners initially tabled for more review; the renewal was later approved at the March 19 session after additional consideration. Sheriff’s Department staff presented a proposal to adopt Omnigo software for jail intake; Major Tom Noon said the cost is already accounted for and no commission action was required.
Next steps: county staff will return with additional information on the door and HVAC bids, contract paperwork for accepted bids will be completed, and insurance renewal paperwork will be finalized following the March 19 approval.
