The Macomb City Council adopted an ordinance on second reading granting a special‑use permit to allow front and side yard parking and a driveway expansion at 410 Candy Lane.
City attorney/planner (S8) explained the planning commission held a public hearing and voted 8–0 to grant the permit with conditions. Among the conditions: approval to expand the driveway up to 6 feet to the north is contingent on Ameren's approval for pole relocation; if Ameren does not approve, the driveway may be expanded up to 6 feet to the south. Final plans are subject to site‑plan review and issuance of construction permits.
Council members asked about Ameren's response. Public works director Alice Ortman (S10) said she had spoken with Ameren and that Ameren requested preliminary drawings and would coordinate pole relocation. The ordinance passed on roll call with all ayes.
