The Village of Antioch held a ceremonial portion of its May 14 meeting to swear in newly elected trustee Jose Martinez and to recognize the Antioch Vikings junior varsity football team for their 2024 Big 10 Big‑10 Super Bowl championship.
After an initial short adjournment for oath administration, judges administered oaths to incoming officers. The oath included commitments to support the U.S. Constitution and the Constitution of Illinois and to faithfully discharge the duties of village trustee. Members of the trustee’s family and visitors were acknowledged and invited to a reception after the meeting.
Coach Dan Bender (who self‑identified) introduced the team, thanked volunteers and team parents, and noted the players’ regular‑season record (5‑3), a three‑game road playoff run and a cumulative playoff point differential the coach described as 66‑12. Multiple players were named and invited forward for recognition.
The board invited the public to a post‑meeting reception at a local restaurant where photos and congratulations were exchanged.
