The Marion City Council on Monday approved several routine and development items and heard department updates.

Department reports and items of note - Streets: Commissioner Webb reported pressure washing and sealing a fence on Norman Road, ditch cleaning on multiple streets, a cover replacement on Van Buren Street and ongoing sign and striping work. He announced Fall Cleanup 2025 rules and yard-waste drop-off hours at the street department on Van Buren Street. - Water: Commissioner Stecklen said the water department repaired meter pits, fixed leaks, completed three new taps and repaired a fire hydrant; he reminded residents about Halloween and a downtown 'Trail of Treats' event. - Roundabout lighting: Commissioner Barwick asked about lights for a roundabout; city staff member Cody said the fixtures are on back order and unlikely to arrive until next year, though electric work is in place. Council asked staff to explore temporary options. - Mayor’s trip: Mayor Absher described a recent delegation trip to Japan that included city staff, chamber representatives and students, calling the exchange valuable for regional connections.
The council adjourned after hearing no need for executive session.
