The presenter said the county currently pays $11,577 per year for Code Red, split with the city. Genesys proposed a three-year contract totaling $15,465; with training and setup included, first-year cost would be higher but overall annual cost would fall to about $4,000 per year for the county's portion after the initial year, the presenter said. "So we'd just be saving money," the presenter said.
Commissioners discussed whether the city would continue to contribute and whether the county should cover the full cost; the presenter said the city had indicated agreement and the county could cover the contract out of emergency management funds. A motion to allow staff to switch services and to encumber the cost passed at the meeting.
Commissioners noted the first year includes setup and training fees and asked staff to confirm contract exhibits before finalizing purchases for other county computers and services.
