Marion's City Council approved several economic-development items on the agenda.
The council approved an ordinance authorizing sale of two industrial-park parcels to Banterra Bank for roughly $100,000 (about 13 acres total) after noting the item had been approved in substance at a prior meeting but required ordinance form. The council then approved a package of 31 TIF grant applications received through May 8, totaling roughly $149,280 to $310,000 in estimated project costs; staff said most projects are routine improvements such as siding and roofing. Council members asked for greater reporting on project specifics in future rounds; staff said about half of the packet had been compiled manually while the new online grants platform improves reporting.
The council also approved the purchase of 1138 Midway Court (PIN 0624327023) from Metro Lanes Incorporated for $25,000; Mayor Absher said the building will be demolished and the city will incur additional teardown costs.
All measures passed by roll call during the meeting.
