Committee approves interior cameras and access control for Red Bud City Hall, defers exterior cameras

The Public Health & Safety committee voted to accept a CTS proposal to install interior cameras and a door‑keypad access control system at Red Bud City Hall and to authorize associated monthly support fees.

Chair (speaker 7) told the committee that CTS’s outside‑camera option was “quite a healthy chunk of money,” and members agreed to proceed with interior equipment and access control now and to defer the exterior cameras to a future date. Committee discussion reviewed the quote line items as presented in the packet: a cameras and labor line listed approximately $16,221.13, an access‑control package of $4,567.16, a monthly support fee of $81.68 for camera services, a separate monthly support line of $50.24 for access control, and a subcontractor allowance of $15.50. The committee approved the procurement motion; the vote carried without recorded opposition.

Staff (speaker 10) said training and an administrative account will be needed and that the police department is expected to be the system administrator. Members noted the city’s 24‑hour occupancy of the building and the lack of recent outside incidents as reasons to prioritize interior security and access control first. The committee also directed staff to keep the item on the council agenda as a separate line item in case final invoices require adjustments.

The action authorizes the purchase as presented and the monthly support arrangement; staff will implement the contract and schedule training with CTS. The committee’s decision leaves the exterior camera option open for a later procurement or supplemental funding once costs and timing are clarified.
