County staff told commissioners the county will issue a request for proposals to centralize vehicle purchases this year, aiming to save money and align with fiscal-responsibility goals; the change was included among 27 motions adopted by the board.
County staff on April 1 told York County commissioners the county plans to issue a request for proposals (RFP) to centralize vehicle purchases for the year, a change officials said should lower costs and align with the county's strategic goal of fiscal responsibility.
Mr. Dahl, who delivered the administrative report, said there are 27 motions on the agenda and highlighted motion number 4 as a request for an RFP to purchase vehicles. "By going through this process to purchase all of our vehicles, we're hoping to get a better price overall for the county," Mr. Dahl said, thanking staff members including Tyler Chronister, Jim Renshaw and the solicitor's office for their work on the RFP.
The Chair then moved to adopt agenda items 1 through 27, which a commissioner seconded; the Chair called a voice vote and announced the motion carried. The inclusion of motion 4 in the adopted items means the county will proceed with the RFP process as described by Mr. Dahl.
No dollar amounts, timetable or vendor-selection criteria were provided during the meeting. Mr. Dahl said the initial work on the RFP was a heavy lift but that he expects it to be easier next year and to save money in the long run.
Following the vote, Mr. Dahl concluded his report and no members of the public raised questions on the procurement change during the meeting.
