Antioch board swears in two officers, approves payments and hears park, public‑works updates

Antioch’s village board opened its meeting in the new village hall, administered oaths to two newly appointed police officers and handled routine business including approval of accounts payable.

The clerk administered the oath to Officer Matthew Hart and Officer Logan Lauterbach; both were welcomed by the chief and the board. The board approved the consent agenda and then approved payments listed by staff totaling $635,281.74 on roll call votes.

Staff reported a range of municipal updates: administration said a redevelopment agreement remains under negotiation and that Clubland phase 4 permit submissions and related inspections are progressing. The village’s waste hauler, Groot, notified the village of a 3% contract increase effective Oct. 1 that will raise regular curbside service from $19.79 to $20.38.

Parks Director Katie Parks presented a 50% design‑development update for Centennial Park phase 1, with a working project budget around $1.273 million (including about $188,000 in contingency) and listed alternatives (playground surfacing, turf, court surfacing, shelter amenities). Trustees asked for more detailed design renderings and expressed preferences on court types (several favored a combined tennis/pickleball approach).

Public Works reported recent asphalt patching work at 12 locations (about 22 tons) and said Well 6 may need pump/motor service, with a worst‑case repair estimate of about $19,000. Lake County Public Works will increase sewer fees in certain eastern service areas by 6% effective Dec. 1, 2025, staff said. The board adjourned at 8:12 p.m.
