Monroe Fine Arts Festival set for late March; organizers emphasize community volunteers and no district cost

Organizers of the Monroe School District Fine Arts Festival told the board the annual (biennial) event will run Thursday–Friday (the 23rd–24th) and highlighted student-led activities, hands-on workshops, an empty-bowl dinner fundraiser and a one-act student play.
Susan Anderson and Jan Douglas, who co-chair the festival, detailed participating artists and alumni activities (for example, local potters, a personal chef leading a children’s cooking session and a visiting conductor leading a composition workshop). They emphasized that community organizations such as Kiwanis and the Optimist Club, alumni volunteers and local businesses provide support so the festival carries no direct cost to the district.
Organizers invited board members to attend, confirmed schedule details will be distributed in advance and said they will provide the board with the event schedule so members can plan which sessions to attend.
