Swansea's police leadership told trustees on March 19 they would pursue a memorandum of understanding to allow a village detective to be deputized as an FBI task‑force officer (TFO), and trustees approved a separate travel request for SWAT training.
Chief Lumbert described discussions with federal agents about a task‑force arrangement that would cost the village nothing but would provide Swansea investigators access to federal resources and personnel for cases that specifically relate to Swansea. “It absolutely costs us nothing,” Chief Lumbert said, adding he planned to forward an MOU to the village attorney for review before bringing it back to the board for formal approval.
Separately, trustees approved a travel request for Officer Shackler to attend Saint Charles County SWAT school in April; Chief Lumbert said the village's only required expense would be lodging and per diem, with an overall cost of $1,213.85. The board recorded the roll‑call vote in favor of the travel request.
