Swansea trustees on March 19 approved two public-works resolutions that together commit roughly $618,706 for sidewalk and storm‑water projects.
The board approved Resolution 1‑2734 accepting Hanks Excavating & Landscaping's low bid of $444,868.15 for the 159-sidewalk project (Bull Avenue to 161). The public-works committee had described the funding as tied to TIF project allocations and moved the resolution to the full board, where a roll‑call vote carried the measure.
The board also approved Resolution 1‑2735 accepting Baxmier Construction's low bid of $173,837.77 for Lake Lorraine Drive storm‑sewer improvements. Committee members noted a correction to vendor wording in the resolution’s section 2 prior to forwarding; trustees voted to approve the contract award by roll call.
Public works leaders introduced Mike Joy as the village’s new public‑works director at the start of the committee session; trustees welcomed him and moved the infrastructure items forward for board approval.
