The Pasco City Council is scheduled to hold a public hearing Feb. 17 on a proposal to vacate a narrow city-owned right of way and transfer control of the parcel to Tierra Vita.
The moderator for the Pasco City Council in Focus program said the parcel is “a narrow piece of land in between a half dozen houses that isn't being used,” and that the right-of-way vacation is intended to clarify property lines and help avoid future disputes.
Vacating a right of way typically removes the public easement so adjacent property owners or a designated entity can assume control. The moderator described the parcel as accessible only by walking through another property owner’s yard, which supporters say makes the land functionally unusable as public right-of-way.
No council action was recorded in the program; the hearing is the formal opportunity for public comment before the council considers any transfer. The council will take further action after hearing public testimony at the Feb. 17 meeting.
