Pasco Fire details new engines, medical gear and plans for a tiller ladder truck

Chief said the department obtained three new type 1 structure engines, a brush truck and a replacement medic unit. He added the fleet was outfitted with new cardiac defibrillators and that crews received a video laryngoscope to improve intubation accuracy, noting the technology increases placement accuracy.
On apparatus procurement, the chief said the department is building a tiller ladder (two-part tractor and ladder) that will be more maneuverable in dense neighborhoods, estimated to be about two years out. "In 5 years, we're anticipating some growth that could be kind of more dense, and we wanna get a piece of equipment that's gonna last, like we're saying, 15 years," he said.
The chief framed the purchases as part of long-term planning to match expected growth and changes in street design and parking. No formal procurement vote was recorded during the briefing; the remarks were presented as project planning and equipment status.
