Station operations staff (Butch) updated the board on recent festival work, equipment challenges, and purchases.
Butch described participating at the Razor Clam festival under difficult weather conditions, with schedule changes and additional teardown work. He warned that beach remotes expose equipment to sand—"I still got sand in the equipment from last year"—and said that volunteers for setup and teardown are hard to recruit.
To improve resilience, the station purchased two larger UPS units and a new laptop loaded with a playlist and an external hard drive to support remote broadcasts. Butch noted the station had invested close to 170 hours of music into the new laptop to ensure consistent remote programming.
Members also discussed routine maintenance such as carpet cleaning at the station, and upcoming fundraisers the station will support: a May 9 'America 250' bar event, a July 1 beer garden benefiting the food bank, and July 4 activities. Butch reported a typical beer‑garden profit around $800 and said New Year's Eve gross revenue was about $5,600 before expenses.
Board members asked staff to document donations, equipment purchases, and cost avoidance in budget reports to show the public how much the station saves taxpayers.
