Summary
At its March 26 meeting the commission approved an Eagle Scout installation at Loch Laron, a $65,000 transfer from the Park Trust for a Parkside water-main installation, multiple fee and no-fee events, and acceptance of several corporate and community donations.
The Park and Recreation Commission on March 26 approved several routine and project items during a meeting chaired by the body’s chair (speaker 1).
The commission approved an Eagle Scout project by Peyton Stein to install two small libraries and two benches at the Loch Laron Nature Playground. The project was presented by Peyton and Courtney and approved following a safety suggestion to use plexiglass or safety glass.
The commission approved a staff request to transfer $65,000 from the Park Trust/park impact fee account to an expense account to pay for installing a new water main to serve Parkside, moving the main from the east to the west side of Main Street with a hydrant near the Parkside entrance; engineering staff and Kalko Engineering will prepare specifications with bidding expected next month.
Members also approved no-fee events (Nitro softball tournament at Quast Creek Park July 24–26, Chamber of Commerce Friday-night concert Aug. 7 and geocache Aug. 7–9, and a fall luminary walk Oct. 17) and fee events including the Art & Chalk Fest (with the Museum of Wisconsin Art, July 31–Aug. 2), Moose Fest (Aug. 1), Germanfest (Aug. 30) and a Walk to End Alzheimer’s (Sept. 26). The commission accepted multiple donations including a $5,000 sponsorship from Westbury Bank for Regner Beach Aqua Park operations and other corporate and community contributions.
Most motions were approved by voice vote; the transcript does not record numerical tallies for those votes.
