Commission, unions and staff honor City Manager George Keller on his final commission meeting

City Manager George Keller received a series of public recognitions at the March 25 commission meeting marking his final official commission appearance.
Police and fire command staff presented Keller with ceremonial awards — the police union presented a specially made shield and the fire command staff presented a signed white fire helmet — and the Commission read an inscription recognizing Keller’s public service dating back to 1978 and most recently as city manager since 2015. Chief Devlin recounted Keller’s role supporting the department through a financial urgency and said Keller’s actions were more than words; Andrew, president of the Fraternal Order of Police, thanked Keller for partnership and leadership.
Keller said he will remain involved as a volunteer on the city’s pension board and will continue to be an ambassador for the city. Commissioners, department heads and residents offered thanks, and the mayor said the City would continue Keller’s initiatives and support the incoming city manager.
No formal vote was required; commissioners invited staff and partners to a group photograph and committed to return with a naming resolution for a community facility in honor of a veteran staff member later this spring.
