Lake Stevens park board adopts updated rules of procedure; adds process for officer removal

The Lake Stevens Parks & Recreation Board adopted revised rules of procedure that modernize language, update authorities and duties to align with code, and add wording about election and removal of officers.

Staff presented redlined edits and told the board the changes reflect the recent return of the board from nine to seven members and other housekeeping needs. Staff read suggested wording stating that "a recommendation to remove an officer may be made to city council by majority vote of the park board." The board discussed minor editorial edits for consistency (for example, changing phrasing to "to assist" in one bullet) and clarified quorum rules: the quorum is a simple majority of members, and the chair counts toward the quorum (four members required for a seven‑member board).

A board member moved to adopt the rules of procedure with the suggested edits and another member seconded; the motion passed by voice vote. Staff said the adopted rules will be forwarded with the plan adoption materials as appropriate and will govern future meetings and officer elections.
