At a March 2 special study session, the Maple Valley City Council agreed to place two procedural items on its March 9 consent calendar: WRIA 8 representation and approval for Deputy Mayor Didem Pierson to attend the AWC Council Leaders Exchange training.
Councilmember Victoria Schroff moved to add "WRIA 8 Representation" to the meeting agenda under item 4(b); Mayor Sean P. Kelly seconded the motion and it carried 7-0. Schroff reported that WRIA 8 had reminded the city of its membership and that Councilmember Syd Dawson will serve as the city's representative with Schroff as the alternate. That arrangement will appear on the March 9 consent calendar for formal approval.
Deputy Mayor Didem Pierson requested permission to attend the Association of Washington Cities (AWC) Council Leaders Exchange on March 27 in Ellensburg; council directed that the training attendance request also be placed on the March 9 consent calendar for approval. Councilmember Les Burberry said he will not attend the March 9 meeting.
The council approved the amended agenda for the March 2 session by a 7-0 vote and adjourned the session at 8:23 p.m. The next regular business meeting is scheduled for March 9, 2026, at Lake Wilderness Lodge.
