New Lake Stevens library manager outlines expanded services and construction update

Antoinette Morales Tanner, manager of the Lake Stevens Library, introduced herself to the council Feb. 24 and reviewed recent and upcoming services tailored to the Lake Stevens community.
Tanner described local initiatives including memory care kits available for three‑week checkout to help caregivers, a pilot homework help program for K–12 students on Wednesday afternoons, extended self‑service hours (6 a.m.–10 p.m., seven days a week) using entry codes, and a seed library launching March 21. "One of the most amazing things...is that you really do get the resources of this large organization, but you also get a very personalized feel," Tanner said, describing Sno‑Isle Libraries’ service model across Snohomish and Island counties.
She also provided an update on the new library building: a 15,000‑square‑foot, two‑story facility with a first floor dedicated to children and early learning, dedicated community gathering spaces, study rooms and meeting rooms. Tanner invited councilmembers to tour the temporary building and the construction site; she said Executive Director Eric Howard and others will provide a more formal presentation later in the spring.
Council members thanked Tanner and requested tours. The presentation required no immediate council action.
