Earlier in the meeting the council administered oaths of office to multiple individuals. The oath recitations in the transcript include the names Shelley Harper, Terry Serna, Frankie Mraz and David Dixon as officials taking the standard oath to support the U.S. and Washington constitutions and to discharge the duties of their city offices. The mayor introduced a newly hired officer, Andrew Ferguson, and said Ferguson will be in field training with Sergeant Gutierrez and Philip Frenin for roughly 12 to 14 weeks. The council noted the hire came from the Prince County Department of Corrections and welcomed Ferguson and his family.
Procedural business continued with the consent calendar and the agenda approved by voice vote before public comments and the executive session. The meeting record shows the council took formal action to appoint Shelley Welch and immediately offered to administer the oath of office.
