The Granite Falls City Council voted 4-1 on Dec. 3 to include the Miller Properties Comprehensive Plan Amendment and Zoning Map Amendment (Permit #CPA/ZMA2024-001) in the city’s 2026 annual Comprehensive Plan amendment review.
Deputy City Manager Brent Kirk explained the process and what the council would consider during the annual amendment cycle. The council voted to remove a proposal to extend planned residential development (PRD) allowances to R-7,200 zoning and directed staff to evaluate and propose any appropriate development-code changes related to that specific issue in 2026. The motion passed with Mayor Matthew Hartman casting the lone “no” vote.
The inclusion places the applicant’s requested map and plan changes into the scope of the 2026 periodic update; future hearings and staff analysis associated with the 2026 amendment cycle will address detailed substantive matters.
