Mayor Ben Kessler presented a proclamation declaring March 24, 2026, "Brianna Deakle Day" in Bexley to recognize Brianna Deakle's Girl Scout Gold Award and her work organizing a junior band camp that introduced fifth and sixth graders to musical instruments.
The proclamation said Deakle, a junior at Bexley High School who participates in the school's swim and band programs, has performed at community Memorial Day services and organized a camp that reached 70 students. The project, the proclamation said, inspired plans for Bexley schools to adopt the junior band camp annually.
Deakle thanked supporters including the band director and her family and posed for a quick photo with council before the meeting continued.
